The Position

This position is fully funded by AuScope. The position is tasked with developing transformational research software infrastructure for simulating geoscientific flows, withing the Geoscientific Adjoint Optimisation Platform (www.gadopt.org) project.

The Research Software Engineer will be a member of Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES). RSES is Australia’s leading academic research institution for Earth and Marine Sciences, and ranked 11th in the world for Earth and Marine Sciences (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023). The Person

The Research Software Engineer will provide the specialist technical expertise to support computational research and model development across for the G-ADOPT team, comprising the numerical and observational geodynamics and groundwater research teams. The successful candidate will be at the Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES), and will contribute to the development, optimisation, and deployment of  software and workflows that enable research in geoscientific flows modelling, utilising high-performance computing, visualisation and big-data approaches.

Your ability to lead by example, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, will enable you to foster respectful and productive working relationships with staff, students and colleagues at all levels within RSES in line with the RSES Culture Statement.
