Your personal sphere of influence:

We are looking for a Senior Scientist (m/f/d) with published experience in structure-function analysis of microbiomes of marine sponges and/or corals to support field and symbiosis research at the Center. 

The position is currently limited to 4 years, with the possibility of subsequent unlimited employment after internal evaluation.

Your future tasks:

Your task will be to support the microbiome research in DOME as a Senior Scientist with a special focus on the symbiosis between microorganisms and marine sponges and corals.  Furthermore, you will support the Division's field research in planning and implementation. In addition, you will submit applications for external funding, write scientific publications, disseminate results at national and international conferences, collaborate with members of the research team and assist in the supervision of students. The position also includes administration and teaching, as stipulated in the collective bargain agreement.

This is part of your profil:

  • PhD degree in life sciences
  • Thematically relevant publications in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Successful acquisition of third-party funding
  • Experience in the field of research diving and the use of research aquaria is an advantage
  • Experience in field research
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an international, collaborative research team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German.
