4.    About Fert-Explorer

Fert-Explorer is an entity affiliated with the College of Agriculture, dedicated to:
(i)    Developing new fertilizer formulations through the implementation of appropriate chemical processes. This includes producing precision fertilizers based on the principles of chemistry, mechatronics, and artificial intelligence. Fert-Explorer aims to create fertilizers tailored to various soil types, plant species, and climatic conditions, with a strong focus on addressing environmental challenges; 
(ii)    Conducting analysis, quality control, and ensuring compliance of fertilizers and their certification….

5.    Characteristics of the position

The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in various research activities within Fert-Explorer.

6.    Key Duties

The successful candidate is expected to have:

6.1) Chemistry Skills

The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of inorganic compounds, particularly those used in fertilizers;

  • Understanding of organic compounds that can be used in the formulation of organic fertilizers; 
  • Ability to analyze the chemical composition of raw materials and finished products; 
  • Knowledge of the physical principles governing chemical reactions and molecular interactions.

6.2) Fertilizer Formulation Skills

  • Understanding of the different raw materials used in fertilizers (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, micronutrients, etc.);
  • Familiarity with the various technologies and methods of fertilizer production (granulation, mixing, coating, etc.);
  • Ability to formulate specific fertilizers based on agronomic needs, crops, and soil and climatic conditions;
  • Methods of evaluating the effectiveness of fertilizer formulations in terms of physical quality, nutrient release, and impact on plant growth;
  • Knowledge of national and international standards and regulations regarding the production and sale of fertilizers.

6.3) Research and Development Skills

  • Skills in planning, conducting, and analyzing experimental research;
  • Ability to write patents, scientific articles, and technical reports;
  • Skills in managing research projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring of results.

6.4) Cross-Functional Skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other researchers, technicians, and industrial partners;
  • Communication skills to present research results to scientific and non-scientific audiences
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and research methods.
